Run your event like a well oiled machine
Wednesday, May 25 2022
Everyone appreciates a smoothly run event. Guests walk away satisfied for getting the memorable experience they were expecting. Entertainers and vendors know that their contributions were worthwhile. Organizers and volunteers aren't left with the feeling that they spent their time "putting out fires".
Logistics are the backbone of an event and can mean the difference between success and failure.
Creating a successful event means juggling a lot of separate responsibilities. Logistics are the first thing you need to have in place when you start planning.
Online course
Event Logistics is one of seven modules in Tourism Saskatchewan's Organizing Special Events online course. It describes the principles of event logistics, takes a closer look at some key logistical areas, and focuses on best practices and helpful tips.
This module covers considerations for choosing a site that works best for your audience, managing entertainment to keep everything on track, working with vendors you may need for food or other services, making sure garbage and waste is managed effectively, setting up a registration process that creates the best first impression for your participants, and handling security, health and safety of everyone at your event.
The Event Logistics Checklist included with the course provides useful prompts to cover all aspects of your event, including:
- Site Plan
- Event Performers
- Food and Beverage Services
- Waste Management
- Registration
- Security and Emergency Services
There is a lot of information to remember when dealing with event logistics. This course gives you the tools to make that easier.
