Good risk management is essential to event success

As visitors return this summer to the events they know and love, they also want to be assured that their experiences can be remembered fondly.
The safety of staff, volunteers and attendees should be at the forefront of your event planning. These days, that includes reassuring confidence post COVID-19.
Risk management for events should include practices for reducing exposure and preventing transmission of viruses. As a bonus, those practices can often also address risks in other areas, such as foodborne illnesses, sanitation concerns and environmental stewardship.
Risk Management for Your Event, one of seven modules in Tourism Saskatchewan's Organizing Special Events online course, provides the steps that event planners can use to develop risk management plans and emergency management plans. - Evaluate the effectiveness of a Risk Management Plan
Based on emerit National Occupational Standards, and developed with the help of nationally certified event professionals, this introductory course takes you step-by-step through all the pieces you need to have in place to create an effective business plan for your event. It also includes your own copy of the Special Events Tool Kit that contains customizable forms and templates to help you plan.
